What your group can see

There are nineteen magnificent rooms including some of the Spencer Family’s private apartments, housing one of Europe’s finest private collections of furniture, pictures and ceramics.

Admission also includes entry to the award-winning exhibition, Diana: A Celebration.

There are extensive grounds to enjoy, including the poignant Round Oval, just a short stroll from the house.

We recommend allowing between three and four hours for a group visit.

Althorp's architectural history will be revealed this year as the House's exterior is restored. View information displays about this impressive project and the fascinating history of a building which has housed 19 generations of the Spencer Family. Please note, it is the responsibility of the organiser to inform their group about the conservation project in advance of their visit. Please click here to view more information on the project.

Special Group Rates, Tours and Packages for 2010

Coach operators and group organisers can choose from a range of inclusive packages - from simple admission-only to private tours with a delicious tea. Afternoon Tea takes place in the opulent State Dining Room, which is not normally open to the public. It is modelled on the ballroom at Buckingham Palace, lit with crystal chandeliers and decorated with mirrors and rare paintings. Food is served on fine Spencer family china as a pianist plays the grand piano to add to the unique atmosphere.
